Newton Hall is one of the North Easts most sought after and popular wedding venues, with its quirky luxury feel and the option for indoor or outdoor celebrations its no wonder i find myself capturing many weddings a year at this fantastic venue. Located only minutes away from the Northumberland white sand cost line this venue offers some off the most breathtaking backdrops and is the wedding photographers dream venue.
Like most wedding mornings I like to arrive at the venue around 3 hours prior to the ceremony so I can check in with your wedding co ordinator and get some shots of the venue and its surrounding areas. I will would then visiting the grooms who generally start there morning celebrations at the joiners arms where I generally find them with there groomsmen frantically ironing there shirts and having a tipple of whisky to settle their nerves. I always love to visit both wedding parties to document both sides preparations so you can both see what each other got up to on the morning of the most amazing day of your lives. I then generally head over to visit the bride over in the cottages behind the main hall where the full bridal party should be well into air and makeup preparations. Its an absolute joy to know i get to be part of these mornings and capture memories you will never want to forget or tire from looking at. My documentary style is all about natural emotions and telling a photographic story as the day unfolds.
The ceremony I like to be with the groom and the guests as soon as possible so I can capture the moments running up to the brides entrance and capture that build up of excitement and emotions as she walks down the isle.
The drinks reception is all about lawn games and guests catching up with each another over cocktails and canapes. The formal family shots we start once everyone has had a drink and a chance to congratulate the newlyweds and generally take around 15 minutes. Around 10-15 minutes before your master of ceremonies announce your guests are to be seated for the speeches and wedding breakfast we begin the couple portraits around the grounds and lawns.
The speeches is one of my favourite times to photograph as i get to hear some hilarious stories but best of all capturing the look on everyones faces as we hear stories the happy New couple never wanted people to hear.
Once the wedding breakfast has been cleared away and your guests pop off to freshen up for the evening reception I generally hop in the car with the bride and groom and we shoot down to the beach to get those dreamy beach shots.
The first dance is the start of the evening celebrations and when I get to see some very interesting dance moves from drunken guests. The evening photos are shots of guests at their most relaxed and the ones that will make everyone chuckle.
Throughout the years I have attended some of the most beautiful weddings at Newton Hall from intimate close family gatherings to huge celebrations from family and friends gathering from all across the globe. In a location only 1 hour from Newcastle and Edinburgh its the most sought after venue for those hosting celebrations with guests travelling from far and wide and with plenty of accommodation on sight and surrounding areas.
